Peace and prosperity, I'm Randy Brickhouse-Bey. Welcome to the Healthy Gourmet Coffee Guide. If you enjoy drinking coffee, then let me show you how you can use coffee to improve your quality of life. "Enjoy the fruits of your labor".
Simply put, coffee is an antioxidant supplement. The research has shown that coffee helps increase the antioxidant levels in the body. Antioxidants help the body fight disease and other degenerating processes in our bodies. Without giving you a lot of scientific and technical talk, I’ll give it to you in layman terms.
Our bodies use oxygen for the renewal of cells and to fight disease. However, the process of healthy cell growth does not always happen like nature intended. Our body changes some of the oxygen to produce free radicals. These free radicals are needed to help our bodies fight disease and degeneration. The immune system uses free radicals by sending disease fighting cells to damaged areas in the body.
The healing takes place by the free radicals over powering the damaged cells. Free radicals are also produced as the by products of our system turning food into energy. Harmful free radicals are in the pollutants we inhale and can be generated by the sun’s rays reflecting off our skin.
Healthy Cell Growth and Antioxidants
I said earlier that the process of healthy cell growth does not always occur exactly as nature intended and harmful free radicals are produced. These free radicals will attack healthy cells. This is where the antioxidants in your coffee come into the picture. That’s right; the gourmet coffee you love to drink is actually an antioxidant supplement. I’m sorry, I can’t assume you’re a coffee lover, but you just might become one after hearing this.
Antioxidants neutralize the destructive process caused by the harmful free radicals. The antioxidant supplement in coffee is known as chlorogenic acid. The same antioxidant is found in pineapples, blueberries, strawberries, tomatoes, apples, and potatoes. These are just a few of the fruits and vegetables chlorogenic acid is found in.
So there it is. Coffee contains antioxidants. They are definitely important for our health. Oh, yeah….before I forget, I have something else to tell you. We can’t produce antioxidants in our bodies. They have to come from the food and drink we consume. We need to eat meals well balanced with fruits, vegetables, and for that additional boost of antioxidants….enjoy your coffee.
